The Roman God Mercury is shown in a somber black onyx intaglio, set in a handsome rosy gold ring. Mercury's bust is carved into a long tabular stone. Depicted as a beardless youth, as is traditional, he appears in profile wearing his winged helmet. A pair of wings is carved below his face, with a star carved above. The intaglio sits in a 14k gold bezel over applied cathedral shoulders and a double band. The ideal ring for a Gemini. Circa 1900.
